Furniture Restoration means that we take a piece of furniture that is past its prime and use our skills to restore it to its original condition. The gallery below provides some examples of our restoration capabilities.
The restoration process begins with the dismantling of the item and cleaning each piece. The original finish is stripped off and the timber inspected for damage. Any missing or damaged pieces are replaced or repaired and any remaining glue residue is sanded off. The item is reglued using modern day adhesives and, if required, stain is applied.
The final job is to apply the finishing coat to your specifications - French Polish, Shellac, Varnish or Waxing.
Cane furniture is also able to be restored but if it has been painted it cannot be stripped but it can be repainted in any colour. Cane restoration can include reweaving, rebinding and replacement of woven cane seats.
